Prospective Student Welcome |
Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. With 15 faculty members and approximately 450 students, we are fortunate to have an exceptionally strong faculty covering several core disciplines of electrical and computer engineering. Our faculty has strong records in engineering research and professional activities that make them nationally and internationally known. Every faculty member teaches undergraduate courses every year. Small class sizes promote an unusual degree of interaction between faculty and students.
The Department offers ABET accredited undergraduate degree programs in electrical engineering and computer engineering. Our graduates have extensive hands-on experience through 5-7 undergraduate labs, series of projects which culminates in a capstone senior design project. Our graduate students have many unique opportunities for teaching and research in the Department. The graduate program in electrical engineering is general in content, and both M.S. and Ph.D. graduates become proficient in an extensive range of electrical engineering areas. In addition, the M.S.E.E. degree has both a thesis and non-thesis option to accommodate the needs of both full-time graduate students and working engineers. Our graduate students present papers in international conferences and publish journal articles. We have modern facilities and equipment housed in the 101,000 square-foot, $14.7 million, Thomas Beam Engineering Complex. Student chapters of IEEE, Tau Beta Pi and Women in Engineering, arrange for guest speakers, visits to local plants, and friendly association between students.
I would be glad to talk with you about electrical and computer engineering at UNLV or to show you our facilities and the campus. I look forward to hearing from you.
